Air Planner (Exercise Development Support) MCTOG

The Exercise Development Support/Air Planner position supports the Marine Corps Tactics and Operations Group (MCTOG) at Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center (MCAGCC), Twentynine Palms CA. The Air Planner provides exercise development support to MCTOG-led courses and exercises, as well as exercises in which MCTOG participates to include Mountain, Integrated and MAGTF warfighting exercises (MTX, MWX). The Air Planner takes work direction from the Site Lead and Project Manager. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide command and control (C2) aviation support training for MCTOG led exercises, and exercises in which MCTOG participates to include Mountain, Integrated and MAGTF Warfighting exercises (MTX, MWX).
  • Create and validate C2 aviation training materials.
  • Develop exercise products using fire support data systems.
  • Conduct JTAR, ASR, ISR, EW and air request training and instruction for exercise augments.
  • Provide air planning instruction for secondary training audience (i.e., exercise augments).
  • Create and validate JTAR, ASR, ISR, EW and air request training materials.
  •  Instruct, Air Traffic Operations (ATO) and Airspace Control Order (ACO) generation, distribution, and execution process within the Marine Air Command and Control System (MACCS) and associated joint air C2 agencies.
  • Train Ground Combat Element (GCE) unit members to pull ATOs and ACOs.
  • Train the training audience on how to submit and process preplanned and immediate Joint Tactical Air Requests (JTARs) and Air Support Requests (ASRs).
  •  Train the training audience on how to submit Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) requests.
  • Train the training audience on how to submit Electronic Warfare (EW) requests.
  • Train the training audience on how to submit airspace requests.
  •  Provide advice, opinion, recommendation, and gather information on development of base scenario documents and Master Scenario Events Lists that include support to MAGTF Training events up to MEF level.
  • Provide air planning and exercise evaluation support to MCTOG.
  • Assist in the conduct of exercise control (EXCON) during specified training events.
  •  Assist in the conduct of red cell (adversary).
EDUCATION 
  • ​​​​​Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Career level school at the appropriate level.
EXPERIENCE 
  • Military experience with air planning including Airspace, Air Control, Air Flows, Targeting and Air Defense.
  • Experience in exercise development up to the MEF level.
CORE SKILLS/COMPETENCIES
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of military doctrine, tactics, and command relationships at the Joint operational command level.
  • Proficient in computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and/or SharePoint.
  •  Provides exercise design expertise to all areas of the MCLOG program.
WORKING CONDITIONS 
  • Required to sit or stand for extended periods of time and maintain focus.

SPECIAL POSITION NOTATIONS 

  • Occasional travel may be required.
  • Qualification as an authorized company driver is required. All authorized company drivers must have a valid driver’s license, current automobile insurance, and a driving record that is acceptable to the company’s auto insurance provider.

SECURITY CLEARANCE  

  • A Top-Secret security clearance is required for this position.

ESTIMATED COMPENSATION 

  • $70,000-$140,000
