Marine Corps Logistics Analyst

The Marine Corps Logistics Analyst will help stakeholders identify solutions hidden in large data sets and work with stakeholders to improve supportability outcomes. Applicants should have a thorough background and understanding of Marine Corps (or Service Level Logistics).  The Marine Corps Logistics Analyst will work with a wide range of stakeholders and functional teams to develop solutions using large data sets and develop logistics information technology tools and will perform the following duties:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide daily analysis of data sources through the implementation and creation of models and algorithms that inform logistical support and sustainability of Marine Forces in the USINDOPACOM area of responsibility.
  • Perform data analysis and draw insights from Marine Corps databases using statistical computer languages (R, Python, SLQ, etc.) and a variety of data mining/data analysis and manipulation methods and data tools to drive optimization and improvement of logistics support to operational plans and initiatives set forth by MARFORPAC and HQMC.
  • Experience querying databases and leverage knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests, and proper usage, etc.) and experience with applications using statistical computer languages: R, Python, and SQL.
  • Create and modify data architectures, software applications and programs, and other data analysis tools to improve G4 Plans ability to forecast and meet logistics sustainment requirements at the strategic theater and operational level.
  • Develop information papers and briefs to communication complex data analytics concepts to stakeholders across teams.
  • Provide recommendations to mitigate vulnerabilities in the execution of Theater Security Cooperation Engagement Plans, Exercises, Operations, Activities, and Investments, Operations Plans, Contingency Plans, and Non-Combatant Evacuation Operations.
  • Regarding theater security cooperation, provide recommendations for the integration of U.S. Marine sustainment forces with those of allies and partners. Shall include theater sustainment strategies, intra-theater distribution and infrastructure improvements.

EDUCATION 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a field related to statistical analysis required.

EXPERIENCE ​​​​​​​

  • Military Experience in Marine Corps (or Service level) Logistics.
  • Experience in statistical and data mining techniques: GLM/Regression, Random Forest, Boosting, Trees, text mining, social network analysis, etc.; experience querying databases and using statistical computer languages: R, Python, and SQL.
  • Experience working with and creating data architectures.

CORE SKILLS/COMPETENCIES
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

  • Expert level knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Knowledge of a machine learning techniques (clustering, decision tree learning, artificial neural networks, etc.) and their real-world advantages/drawbacks.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform diverse duties under operating and deadline constraints.
  • Ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders and functional teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Marine Corps and Joint planning processes, componency, and operational logistics support concepts.
  • Knowledge of military logistics doctrine, tactics, and command relationships at the Joint operational command level.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Required to sit for extended periods of time and maintain focus.

  • Occasional travel may be required.
  • Qualification as an authorized company driver is required. All authorized company drivers must have a valid driver’s license, current automobile insurance, and a driving record that is acceptable to the company’s auto insurance provider.​​​​​​​

  • A TS/SCI clearance required for this position.
