Simulation/Sim-C2 Interoperability Specialist

Quantico, VA

The Sim-C2 Interoperability Specialist reports to and receives work direction from the Project Manager. The Sim-C2 Interoperability Specialist will provide support that includes the following activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Alignment of enumerations and lower levels of parametric data (e.g., parent-child associations, ammunition class associations) between Marine Corps simulations' parametric data and enumerations databases and with the JTDS (JLVC) Master Class List maintained by JSJ7.
  • Support the continuous refinement of the JTDS MCL to reflect Marine Corps assets/requirements.
  • Support the low-overhead instantiation of LVC environments, without misalignment of entity enumerations and fair-fight issues that derive from misaligned parametric data.
  • Manage parametric data management across JLVC simulations, including MAGTF Tactical Warfare Simulation, JCATS, JDLM, AFSIM, JLVC tools (e.g., aggregate combat service, JTDS, JTT), and enumerations tables for Marine Corps virtual simulations.
  • Provide guidance for the instantiation of DIS and HLA simulation environments, including compliance with SISO standards, configuration of simulations, gateways, and run-time infrastructure (RTI) software.
  • Responsible for providing enterprise best practices, standards, and policies to enhance how the Marine Corps conducts LVC environments and supporting distributed locations to implement procedures, tools, and databases that are maintained by the government.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described.
EDUCATION
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering required.
  • Post-Graduate degree in engineering preferred.
EXPERIENCE
  • Experience and expertise in the management of simulation enumerations and parametric data and simulation/sim-C2 interoperability. Parametric data refers to the databases that define the capabilities of different entities (e.g., platforms, personnel, ammunition classes).
  • Military experience preferred understanding that the management of military simulations' parametric data requires some degree of familiarity with military concepts.
CORE SKILLS/COMPETENCIES
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Familiar with parametric data management across JLVC simulations, including MAGTF Tactical Warfare Simulation, JCATS, JDLM, AFSIM, JLVC tools (e.g., aggregate combat service, JTDS, JTT), and enumerations tables for Marine Corps virtual simulations.
  • Familiar with sim-C2 interoperability mechanisms including, commonly simulated C2 protocols (e.g., Link-16, OTH-Gold), associated SISO standards, and common mechanisms for stimulating C2 systems with sim-C2 information exchange approaches.
  • Strong understanding of the differences between different federations (e.g., NCTE, JLVC) and associated Federation Object Models and RTI requirements.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills. Able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
