M&S 3D Modeling Supervisor

Quantico, VA

The M&S 3D Modeling Supervisor reports to and receives work direction from the Project Manager. The M&S 3D Modeling Supervisor will provide support that includes the following activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the 3D modeling and terrain working groups as part of the development of the USMC Live Virtual Constructive (LVC) training environment.
  • Collaborate with developers to ensure consistency in models across all simulations in support of the LVC training environment.
  • Ensure terrain is accurately correlated in all simulations to create a realistic and effective training experience for the US Marine Corps.
  • Communicate progress and coordinate efforts between the modeling and terrain groups to ensure the successful completion of projects.
  • Identify and resolve any issues or conflicts that may arise during the project to keep it on track and on schedule.
  • Apply agile project management methodologies to ensure efficient and effective project execution, including regular check-ins with the team, daily stand-ups, and iterative planning and development.
  • Utilize virtual battlespace scripting language to develop custom features and add-ons to enhance the LVC training environment and meet the specific requirements of the US Marine Corps.
  • Manage the entire product life cycle from requirements, development, and delivery for the LVC training environment.
  • Lead different functional teams and ensure the successful completion of each task within the project.
  • Manage time estimation, budgets, and spend plans, and develop and maintain schedules for the project.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described.
EDUCATION
  • Master’s degree in Engineering required.
  • PhD in Engineering preferred.
EXPERIENCE
  • Experience and expertise in 3D modeling and terrain development, including format data, import and export of satellite imagery, height maps, and shape files.
  • Experience and expertise in 3D modeling, with a strong understanding of poly count, animations, and model configurations.
  • Experience in project management using agile methodologies.
  • Have experience in software development or the game industry, with a strong familiarity of Bohemia Interactive Product line, VBS Blue IG, Terra Tools, and the Software Developer Kit (SDK).

  • ​​​​​Technical expertise in relevant software and technologies, particularly in support of LVC training environments
  • Familiar with simulations for training such as CACCTUS, GENSIM, MTWS, VBS, SAVT, etc.
  • Familiar with task tracking tools such as JIRA, MS Project, etc.
  • Familiar with version control software such as Plastic, GitHub, etc.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with tight deadlines and competing requirements. Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills
  • Excellent management and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills. Able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
  • Proficient in computer applications such as Windows and MS Office
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent detail oriented, organizational, planning and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to be a self-starter and work collaboratively with others.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Required to sit for extended periods of time and maintain focus.
SPECIAL POSITION NOTATIONS
  • Requires 5% - 10% travel.
  • Daily travel in the local area during the workday (including the use of a personal vehicle).
  • Extended workdays and weekend work may be required.
SECURITY CLEARANCE
  • Ability to obtain or have a Secret security clearance.
