Exercise Systems Administrator

Analyze, create (new)/modify (existing), validate, and document design elements to support MAWTS1 exercises/training events/wargames, and exercises/training events/wargames in which MAWTS-1 participates..           

  • Install updates and maintain patches for all exercise systems used by MAWTS-1 during MAWTS-1 exercises/training events/wargames. When exercise systems performance issues are discovered, conduct troubleshooting of the affected system(s), conduct maintenance actions that are authorized at the using unit level and if external maintenance support is required submit maintenance support requests in accordance with established procedures.
  • Federate modeling and simulation systems with C2 systems during exercises/training events/wargames.
  • Ensure that simulation systems appropriately stimulate C2 systems during MAWTS-1 exercises/training events/wargames, and exercises/training events/wargames in which MAWTS-1 participates in order for the training audience to effectively experience the artificial operating environment.
  • Perform simulation experimentation, development, and testing (simulation-to-simulation and simulation-to-stimulation) of MAWTS-1 generated products and other off-the-shelf simulation capabilities.
  • Provide exercise systems (C2/M&S) instruction to MAWTS-1 personnel focused on interoperability of these systems during exercise execution.
  • Train users on C2 system employment, technical queries and Combat Operations Center (COC) setup during exercises.8. Research and develop expertise on emergent M&S and C2 systems and technologies not limited to but including the Joint Tactical COP Workstation (JTCW), Tactical COP Server (TCS) and data integration from simulation systems into C2 systems.
  • Create and maintain constructive-based training scenarios such as: organizational databases, tactics, weapon system capabilities, doctrine, and force structures for future use.
  • Prepare written simulation control plans for all simulation exercises/training events/wargames.
  • Participate in exercise/wargame planning and design (e.g., Concept Development Conference (CDC), Initial Planning Conference (IPC), Main Planning Conference (MPC), and Final Planning Conference (FPC).
  • Military Experience in Joint Exercises level involving combat service support units and related equipment.
  • Experience in exercises/simulation control (EXCON/SIMCOM).                             
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proficient in computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and/or SharePoint.
  • 3Continuous proficiency installing, configuring, operating, troubleshooting and maintaining the virtual and constructive simulation systems used most commonly by MAWTS-1: MAGTF Tactical Warfare Simulation System (MTWS), Joint Deployment Logistics Model (JDLM), and Deployable Virtual training Environment (DVTE) with all associated applications (VBS, CAN, etc.).
  • Capable, with sufficient lead time of installing, configuring, operating, troubleshooting and maintaining other virtual and constructive simulation systems.
  • Knowledge of military doctrine, tactics, and command relationships at the Joint operational command level.
  • Required to sit or stand for extended periods of time and maintain focus. 


  • Occasional travel may be required. 
  • Qualification as an authorized company driver is required. All authorized company drivers must have a valid driver’s license, current automobile insurance, and a driving record that is acceptable to the company’s auto insurance provider. 


  • A Secret Clearance is required for this position.
