System Training Advisor

The System Training Advisor is the interface between the training unit and MCTIS exercise control.   

The System Training Advisor coordinates with the training unit and provides advice on MCTIS capabilities to ensure its full potential is realized.  They ensure MCTIS is employed to best facilitate the achievement of a unit’s training objectives. In addition, they plan tactical observer / controller support for MCTIS training events as required. They also perform equipment troubleshooting and coordinate resupply throughout an exercise and ensure all system faults are noted. They ensure the equipment for the training unit is issued and recovered in accordance with established procedures. If requested by exercise personnel, the Systems Training Advisor will be prepared to provide tactical, technical, and procedural recommendations. May conduct tactical foot and mobile movement with training unit.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reports to the contract Site Lead in all matters concerning operational support to MCTIS at the fielded location and assigned Deploy for Training activities.  
  • Assists with exercise planning and executes the support plan.
  • Conveys training unit’s training objectives and tactical plans to System Analysts and provides System Analysts with observations for inclusion into the AAR.
  • Manages and coordinates the activities of assigned Field Support Representative (FSR) teams throughout an exercise. 
  • Performs planning, preparation, and configuration of system equipment prior to each exercise. 
  • As part of the ‘Issue’ phase, delivers equipment familiarity and functionality lessons to the training unit. 
  • Issues equipment in the field as required and maintains all necessary paperwork. 
  • Delivers equipment familiarity and functionality lessons as required. 
  • Leads equipment troubleshooting, battery exchange, and resupply throughout an exercise. 
  • Supports equipment set-up in the training areas and maintains that equipment throughout an exercise.  
  • Assists with the recovery / receipt phase of all issued MCTIS equipment.
  • Leads the establishment of team AAR / Hotwash locations. 
  • Attends training in the U.S. or overseas as required. 
  • Attends all planning and coordination meetings as required. 
  • Performs preventive and corrective maintenance as required. 
  • Responsible for assisting in the maintenance, serviceability, and resupply of the team’s vehicles. 
  • Administers Performance Evaluation Checklist (PECL) for team members as required. 
  • Responsible for the serviceability of the team medical kit and ensure that the team is briefed on its location and use. 
  • Assists with the erection and maintenance of the communication system if required. 
  • Assists with any continuation training as required. 
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described.
EDUCATION 
  • Attended Professional Military Education appropriate to rank at time of separation or retirement from the uniformed service.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred. 
EXPERIENCE
  • Ideal candidate is a former ground combat arms USMC Officer or Senior SNCO.
  • 10+ years of Fleet Marine Force operational experience preferred.
  • Experience with MAGTF C2 operations.
  • Experience with exercise control and battalion-level (or above) combat operations center processes and procedures.
CORE SKILLS/COMPETENCIES 
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 
  • Expertise in infantry tactical planning and operations.
  • Operate application-based proprietary software programs.
  • Strong foundation in professional communication. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • In depth understanding of USMC Combined Arms Doctrine; Tactics, Techniques & Procedures (TTP).
  • Familiarity with USMC Instructional Systems Design (ISD) and Systems Approach to Training and Education (SATE).
WORKING CONDTIONS  
  • Some office work in a climate-controlled facility.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, to include some holidays and weekends.
  • Prolonged outdoor exposure to the elements. Work in inclement temperatures from 100+ degrees in a low elevation desert climate to negative 25 degrees in a high elevation (6,500 – 10,000 feet) mountainous environment.
  • Routine heavy lifting (50 lbs. maximum).
  • Daily driving in the training areas with poor driving conditions due to rugged terrain, weather, and range debris.
SPECIAL POSITION NOTATIONS 
  • Depending on home site location, may require 15% - 20% travel to California. Some training overseas may occur which requires a valid U.S. Passport.
  • Daily travel at home site location and occasional travel off-site in accordance with contract requirements. Company credit card use and compliance with Company policy are mandatory.
  • Qualification as an authorized company driver is required. All authorized company drivers must have a valid driver’s license, current automobile insurance, and a driving record that is acceptable to the company’s auto insurance provider.
SECURITY CLEARANCE  
  •  Secret security clearance required.
ESTIMATED ANNUALIZED COMPENSATION 
  • $65,000- $87,500
