Instructional Systems Designer

The Instructional Systems Designer (ISD) shall analyze customer requirements, available training methods, and technologies to design and develop the required training materials. Coordinate with the customer to identify the critical knowledge, skills, and abilities needed by personnel working in analysis workforce roles and technical requirements of the training content. Conducts research, collaborate with operational technical experts and language training developers. Troubleshoot training materials design issues to detect any inconsistencies/defects and ensure design meets customer needs. The ISD reports to and receives work direction derivatives from the Project Manager. The ISD will perform the following tasks and should possess the following capabilities:

  • Execute development, revision, and updating of TECOM organization’s online education packages and products
  • Develop and revise curricula and instruction in accordance with the SATE, Unit SOP, USMC Training & Readiness Manuals and to the minimum standards set by the Marine Corps Curriculum Developer's Course curriculum
  • Edit and maintain materials, online content, and courses in accordance with curriculum review boards, program POA&Ms, and as needed to ensure operational relevance and alignment with DoD and USMC guidance
  • Conduct anti-plagiarism software checks on written assignments
  • Ensure all material conforms to USMC Style Guide style of spelling, punctuation, grammar, and usage and shall eliminate all inconsistencies
  • Develop, revise, or leverage existing visual media (such as images, graphics, animation, and video) in support of all activities
  • Explain to Government personnel the selection, use and applicability of the selected graphic strategies and how these will achieve learning outcomes and objectives
  • Design an Instructional Media Design Plan (IMDP); format(s) to be agreed upon by Government and Contractor
  • Coordinate with other organizations as required on testing and staging of all training and education material
  • Provide storyboard and scripts for Government review
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described
  • Associate or Bachelors’ degree in one of the following: Instructional Systems Design, Education, training and development.
  • Experience in supporting Marine Corps preferred. 
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English. 
  • Able to design and write clear communications and present training programs.
  • Proficient in computer applications such as Windows, MS Office, and Adobe Suites.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational, planning and prioritization skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Required to sit for extended periods of time and maintain focus
  • Ability to work in a complex, hybrid work environment with military personnel, DOD civilians, and contractors
  • Curriculum Development
  • USMC experience
  • Ability to obtain or have a security clearance preferred
  • Requires 5% - 10% travel
