Force on Force Training System Analyst

Under the Range and Training Programs Division (RTPD) within TECOM, the Range and Training Area Management (RTAM) Branch sponsors, develops, executes, and manages the Marine Corps Range Program and represents the interests of Marine Corps training ranges in DOD, inter-service, and international forums. RTAM identifies, validates, and prioritizes institutional training system requirements to provide a single, integrated program and then provides the ranges and training systems, in order to ensure that the Fleet Marine Force (FMF) has access to safe, modernized, and well-maintained systems that support live and virtual training throughout the training continuum. The Force on Force Training System Analyst shall assist MAGTF and Immersive Training System Portfolio Managers with technical research, analysis, and presentation of material service at the service and joint level. The Force on Force Training System Analyst reports to the Project Manager and receives work direction from the Portfolio Manager.  

  • Support integration and interoperability of Force on Force (FoF) training systems, including Marine Corps Tactical Instrumentation Systems (MCTIS), Special Effects Small Arms Marking System (SESAMS) Gen II, and the Infantry Immersion Trainer (IIT).
  •  Provide technical expertise to research, evaluate, develop courses of action, and develop business cases for funding and acquisition. Maintain documentation essential for determining the training systems requirements.
  • Conduct liaison and participate in the various joint working groups and action teams to support USMC activities associated FoFTs/IITs.
  • Conduct research and provide subject matter expertise to validate operational conditions employed within the Marine Corps FoF based training system. Research and analyze specifications and operational environments involving the FoFTs/IITs in order to assist RTAM in the production of documentation and guidance in support of TECOM plans and policies for implementation of the FoFTs.
  • Assist in drafting capabilities integration and development documents (such as the Initial Capabilities Development Document and the Capability Development Document/Capabilities Requirements Change and Letters of Clarification by conducting technical research, identifying, and validating training performance issues as well as performing capability needs assessments to identify Key Performance Parameters and other vital requirements for FoF based training devices.
  • Bachelors required.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience as a USMC field grade officer preferred.
  • USMC Service Level experience; MCCDC/DC, CD&I preferred.
  • Marine Corps operations/training knowledge.  
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of training requirements within the Marine Corps Training and Readiness Manuals, Doctrinal Publications and Warfighting Functional Areas.
  • Knowledge of the organizational structure of the USMC, specifically training organizations, schools, and FMF.
  • Knowledge of the process by which the Marine Corps and DoD develop, field, and support training systems.
  • Expert level knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), and Adobe.
  • Excellent communication, writing and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to work independently with little or no supervision, be exceedingly well organized, flexible. 
  • Strong familiarity with government regulations and directives pertaining to confidentiality, document retention, and project site protocols.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform diverse duties under operating and deadline constraints.
  • Required to sit or stand for extended periods and maintain focus.
  • ​​​​​Local and continental U.S. (CONUS) travel projected with rare-to-occasional outside continental U.S. (OCONUS) travel to established OCONUS bases and stations.
  • No security clearance is required for this position.
