Travel Manager

The Travel manager will be responsible for facilitating the preparation and distribution of travel information to internal and external facing clients. The Travel Manager will have a thorough knowledge of the Joint Travel Regulations (JTR) and serve as the on-site expert on government travel procedures.  A significant element of the position will be the reconciliation and payment processing of all travel related invoices; assisting with the maintenance and reconciliation of the Corporate Travel Business Card; and creating, maintaining, and organizing databases used to track travel reports and correspondences. The Travel Manager will perform the following duties: 

  • Processing, recording, and reporting of travel requests and travel claims.
  • Assists in resolving payment and funding discrepancies.
  • Audit travel and expense submissions for compliance in accordance with the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 31.205-45, the Joint Travel Regulations (JTR), and the Corps Solutions Travel Policy.
  • Maintain current knowledge of the JTR and GSA established per diem rates.
  • Provide support to and field questions from employees with respect to the status of travel reports, expense reports and payments thereof.
  • Prepare and assist with monthly travel invoicing.
  • Assist in the year-end close out by providing supporting documents and any other calculations requested.
  • Maintaining and organizing all travel records.
  • Prepare management reports as requested by the CEO and Project Managers for use in controlling travel costs.
  • Create, publish, and train employees on travel procedures as required. 
  • Processing, recording, and reporting of travel invoices submitted by subcontractors.
  • Participating in business meetings, events, and company functions to support management team.
  • Assists in special projects as directed.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a discipline relation accounting, management, travel processing, general administration, information technology, or an equivalent combination thereof.
  • Demonstrated application and interpretation of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Joint Travel Regulations (JTR), and the administration of government contracts and subcontracts
  • Experience working with government contracts and/or military services preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Strong decision-making skills with ability to assess multiple options and to identify the best choice to serve a specified goal.
  • Strong administrative and coordination skills, as well as troubleshooting skills with an effective customer-service orientation. 
  • Familiarity with Accounting Systems.
  • Ability to multi-task, deal with ambiguity and reprioritize tasks in response to unexpected changes in priorities/requests.
  • People-oriented with excellent organizational and communication skills (interpersonal and written)
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficient in computer applications such as Windows and MS Office.
  • Capacity to sit for extended periods of time and maintain focus in an office environment.
  • Occasional travel in local area during workday (including use of personal vehicle ).
  • Qualification as an authorized company driver is required.
  • All authorized company drivers must have a valid driver’s license, current automobile insurance, and a driving record that is acceptable to the company’s auto insurance provider.
  • Requires 0% - 5% travel
