Logistics Planner

The Logistics Operational Planner reports to and receives work direction derivatives from the Project Manager.  The Logistics Operational Planner will perform the following duties:

  • Provide assistance in monitoring and analyzing units requiring MLG support, which includes providing statistics and reports on their current status and instructions on correcting deficiencies if necessary.
  • Advise staff and provide data analysis to the 1st MLG AC/S G-3 for all matters concerning Logistics Integration to support Force Design development and operations.
  • Provide independent analysis in monitoring and analyzing of the 15 MLG using units, which includes providing statistics and reports on their current status and instructions on correcting deficiencies if necessary as they relate to future Force Design 2030 status within 1st MLG and provide independent analysis of the DOTMLPF spectrum of Force Design 2030 implications to appropriate organizations within 1st MLG.
  • Assist 1st MLG staff in enhancement of the education of employment of combat service support personnel and capabilities using-unit personnel, determination of personnel and equipment requirements, systems testing, and systems sustainment at the Major Subordinate Command (MSC) level.
  • Information/Point Papers and Briefs and Other Routine Staff Products -Develop updates to the 1st MLG staff and MSC commanders on operational logistics, supply, and distribution realignment initiatives.
  • Provide an independent data analysis, review logistics policies and procedures, compliance with higher directives, and participation in working groups. 
  • Information/Point Papers and Briefs and Other Routine Staff Products - Develop products as required in response to higher headquarters tasks and local requirements.
  • Provide an independent analysis of multi-level logistics, supply and distribution management, and other logistics functions within 1st MLG and provide support to appropriate organizations.
  • Provide an independent analysis of multi-level logistical queries and implications within 1st MLG and provide support to appropriate organizations.  Conduct data mining and analysis that assists the 1st MLG AC/S G-3 to determine the correct Force Design approach from an LCE perspective, conduct process reviews, and implement controlled process changes that are measurable, ultimately leading to maximized resource allocation within the 1st MLG and enabling increased supply and maintenance management support to I MEF.
  • 10 years of experience at a Major Subordinate Command and/or MEF level in planning and managing U.S. Marine Corps operations and training or other service equivalent.
  • Attended Professional Military Education appropriate to rank at time of separation or retirement from the uniformed service.   
  • Experience with working in an LCE and demonstrated understanding of the capabilities and limitations of LCE organic combat service support or other service equivalent.
  • Experience planning or directing logistics and LCE operations or other service equivalent.
  • Experience with the Marine Corps Planning Process or Military Decision-Making Process and the conduct of an Operational Planning Team (OPT) or other service equivalent.
  • Masters Degree preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Working knowledge of U.S. Marine Corps MAGTF organization, employment, and operations, including the Marine Expeditionary Force (MEF), Marine Expeditionary Brigade (MEB) and Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) or other service equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of the functions of logistics and how those functions interoperate as part of a MAGTF Logistics Combat Element (LCE) or other service equivalent.
  •  Knowledge of general officer staff sections and staff integration with training and operations.
  • Knowledge of Marine Corps orders and policies related to training and operational readiness.
  • Working knowledge of planning and managing a Training, Exercise and Employment Plan (TEEP).
  • Working knowledge of the Defense Readiness Reporting System (DRRS), Total Force Structure Management System (TFSMS), Marine Corps Training Information System (MCTIMS), and Joint Operation Planning and Execution System (JOPES).
  • Familiarization with the budget planning and forecasting systems, U.S. Marine Corps force sourcing process or other service equivalent (equivalency must be explicitly explained in resume)
  • Strong communications and presentation skills.  
  • Able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.  
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational, planning and prioritization skills.
  • Proficient in computer applications such as Windows and MS Office.  
  • Expected to perform independently and exercise good judgment.
  • Required to sit for extended periods of time and maintain focus
  • Qualification as an authorized company driver is required
  • All authorized company drivers must have a valid driver’s license, current automobile insurance, and a driving record that is acceptable to the company’s auto insurance provider
  • Must have a security clearance.
  • 5-10% travel expected.
  • Position expected to begin on or about 1 Oct 2021.
