Instructional Systems Designer

Quantico, VA
The Instructional Systems Designer at College of Distance Education and Training (CDET) reports to and receives work direction derivatives from the Site Lead.  The Instructional Systems Designer will perform the following duties:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide instructional systems design expertise to Enlisted College Distance Education Program subject matter experts and course directors regarding the validity and technical performance for asynchronous, self-paced delivery via MarineNet and the Learning Support System.
  • Provide instructional systems design expertise to Enlisted College Distance Education Program subject matter experts regarding the development of learning objectives at the appropriate level of Bloom’s taxonomy to meet designated learning outcomes.
  • Provide instructional systems design expertise to Enlisted College Distance Education Program subject matter experts regarding the development of comprehension checks and test questions for associated learning objectives.
  • Develop courses for delivery on MarineNet in accordance with the MarineNet Courseware Development Technical Standards.
  • Provide instructional systems design expertise to course directors in conducting user testing.
  • Maintain and safeguard electronic files, end of course exams and associated answer keys.
  • Technically review and convert assessments for electronic delivery via the Learning Support System and government assessment tool.
  • Develop instruction strategies in coordination with subject matter experts.  
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • A minimum of four years of experience and a HS Diploma or equivalent is required, a BA/BS degree is preferred.
  • Previous E-Learning Design experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Strong communications and presentation skills.
  • Have a working knowledge of the Marine Corps.
  • Able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational, planning and prioritization skills
  • Proficient in computer applications such as Windows and MS Office
  • Expected to perform independently and exercise good judgment.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Required to sit for extended periods of time and maintain focus.
  • Qualification as an authorized company driver is required.
  • All authorized company drivers must have a valid driver’s license, current automobile insurance, and a driving record that is acceptable to the company’s auto insurance provider
SPECIAL POSITION NOTATIONS
  • Ability to obtain or have a security clearance.
  • 15-25% travel expected.
  • Position expected to begin on or about 1 Jul 2021.
