Hypertext Markup Language 5 (HTML 5) Programmer

Quantico, VA
The HTML 5 Programer at the College of Distance Education and Training (CDET) reports to and receives work direction derivatives from the Site Lead.  The HTML 5 Programmer will perform the following duties:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide programming expertise to the Distance Education Program subject matter experts and Instructional Systems Designers on graphic strategies to achieve learning outcomes and objectives using HTML.
  • Develop interactive HTML 5 files that support instructional validity and technical performance for asynchronous, self-paced delivery via MarineNet.
  • Coordinate with the Marine Corps Imagery Resource Center, Training and Education Command’s Combat Camera Branch, the World Wide Web (WWW) for imagery and video collection efforts.
  • Provide programming expertise in the development of courses and multimedia for delivery on MarineNet in accordance with the MarineNet Courseware Development Technical Standards.
  • Provide programming expertise in the development of multimedia for CDET marketing and outreach programs.
  • Provide programming expertise to course directors in the development of their course material.
  • Provide webpage design and programming expertise to each associate dean.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • A minimum of six years of experience and a BA/BS is required, MA/MS degree preferred.
  • Understanding of web markup, including HTML 5.

  • Strong communications and presentation skills.
  • Have a working knowledge of the Marine Corps.
  • Able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational, planning and prioritization skills.
  • Proficient in computer applications such as Windows and MS Office.
  • Expected to perform independently and exercise good judgment.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Required to sit for extended periods of time and maintain focus.
  • Qualification as an authorized company driver is required.
  • All authorized company drivers must have a valid driver’s license, current automobile insurance, and a driving record that is acceptable to the company’s auto insurance provider
SPECIAL POSITION NOTATIONS
  • Ability to obtain or have a security clearance.
  • 15-25% travel expected.
  • Position expected to begin on or about 1 Jul 2021.
