Senior Analyst Group / Joint Maneuver Analyst

Quantico, VA
The Senior Analyst Group / Joint Maneuver Analyst reports to and receives overall work direction from the Corps Solutions MSTP Project Manager and is supervised daily the Senior Analyst Group Section Head.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintain proficiency and functional knowledge of the Marine Corps and joint/combined planning processes and Marine Corps and joint doctrine.
  • Conduct tactical and operational planning at the conceptual, functional, and detailed levels for service and functional component organizations and maintain intimate knowledge of the Marine Corps or other service equivalent planning process.
  • Assist government counterpart in instructing and training of designated staffs in the Marine Corps Planning Process (MCPP).
  • Evaluate and critique operations orders produced by Training Audiences.
  • Perform Observer Trainer Collector (OTC) duties in support of MSTP exercises.
  • Provide input and participate in Final After Action Reviews.
  • Plan and prepare lesson plans and facilitate seminars geared toward senior staff members and Marine Corps senior leadership.
  • Perform platform instruction on MSTP approved curriculum. 
  • Perform research of concepts and plans and conduct analysis of empirical data.
  • Prepare reports, briefs, and documents to support the development of exercise scenario products.
  • Assist government counterpart in the development and circulation of OPT planning tools and products.
  • Participate in structured rehearsals of operation orders and plans.
  • Provide inputs and assist the Site Lead in the development of Final Exercise Reports.
  • Edit documents and provide written feedback in accordance with approved procedures and formats. 
  • Lead or participate in doctrinal writing, which includes: Joint and Service doctrinal publications and MSTP pamphlets.
  • Review classified material and perform derivative classification of classified documents.
  • Assist government counterparts in the performance of their duties. 
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described
EDUCATION
  • Graduate of military Intermediate Level School (e.g. Marine Corps Command and Staff College or equivalent) is required.
  • Graduate of SAW, SAMS, SAASS, JAWS or MAWS operational planning school is desired.
  • An undergraduate degree in operations research, business management, military science, or equivalent area is desired.   
  • Master’s degree in any discipline is desired.
  • Graduate of Top Level School, such as: Naval War College, Armed Forces Staff College, National Defense University is desired.
EXPERIENCE
  • Eight years of operational experience in deployment and employment of ground combat, supporting arms, and combat service support units and related equipment at the Division headquarters level or higher. 
  • Minimum three years of demonstrated knowledge of military doctrine, tactics, and command relationships as measured by actual assignment at a Marine Expeditionary Brigade, Marine Expeditionary Force, Higher Headquarters Untied States Marine Corps, or Joint Combatant Command headquarters level. Assignment at other Service level higher headquarters will be considered in lieu of Marine Corps experience.
  • Direct participation in real world contingency operations is desired. 
  • Published authorship of military articles, periodicals, courses of instruction, or other published academic written products related to military science is desired.

WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Required to sit for extended periods of time and maintain focus.
  • Daily travel in local area during workday (including use of personal vehicle)
  • Able to work a flexible or non-standard schedule, to include holidays and weekends.
SPECIAL POSITION NOTATIONS
  • Requires 15% - 25% travel – to include overseas destinations
  • Possess current U.S. government passport.
  • Possess current driver’s license. All authorized company drivers must have a valid driver’s license, current automobile insurance, and a driving record that is acceptable to the company’s auto insurance provider.
  • Daily travel in local area during workday (including use of personal vehicle).
SECURITY CLEARANCE
  • A Secret security clearance is required for this position.
  • This position also requires a completed Personnel Security Investigation that will qualify the incumbent to be read-in for NATO secret level access and qualify the incumbent for access to at least the TS-SCI level.
