Operational Planner – Aviation

 The Operational Planner reports to and receives work direction derivatives from the Project Manager.  The Operational Planner will perform the following duties:

  • Provide subject matter expertise support for conduct of tactical and operational planning in support of all subordinate unit pre-deployment training (PTP) requirements.
  • Assist 3rd MAW staff’s efforts to coordinate and complete operational requirements to meet suspense dates, create and edit documents based on staff input, analyze operational challenges and propose feasible solutions, and finalize briefs for 3rd MAW leadership and staff.
  • Assist with development, assessment, and refinement of 3rd MAW Tactical Air Command Center (TACC) standing operating procedures (TACSOP).
  • Assist in analyzing taskers related to the Global Force Management Program (GFMP) and global joint operations, exercises and recommend courses of action for the identification, tasking, sourcing, processing, and tracking of 3rd MAW Marines, Sailors, and civilians that deploy in support of current GFMP requirements.
  • Senior Level: Fifteen (15) years of experience
  • MA/MS degree.
  • Attended Professional Military Education appropriate to rank at time of separation or retirement from the uniformed service. 
  • School of Advanced Warfighting preferred.
  • Experience on a 2 Star or 3 Star staff is desired.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Strong communications and presentation skills.
  • Have a working knowledge of the Marine Corps and Joint Planning Process.
  • Able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational, planning and prioritization skills
  • Proficient in computer applications such as Windows and MS Office
  • Expected to perform independently and exercise good judgment.
  • Required to sit for extended periods of time and maintain focus
  • Qualification as an authorized company driver is required
  • All authorized company drivers must have a valid driver’s license, current automobile insurance, and a driving record that is acceptable to the company’s auto insurance provider
  • Ability to obtain or have a security clearance.
  • 5-15% travel expected.
  • Position expected to begin on or about 1 Jan 2021.
