Training Development Specialist

The Training Development Specialist reports to and receives work direction derivatives from the Project Manager.  The Training Development Specialist will perform the following duties: 
  • Conducts the research necessary to develop and revise training courses and prepares appropriate training catalogs. 
  • Supports current and unscheduled mission training requirements. 
  • Develops all instructor materials (course outline, background material, and training aids). 
  •  Develops all student materials (course manuals, workbooks, handouts, completion certificates, and course critique forms). 
  • Trains personnel by conducting formal classroom courses, workshops, seminars, and/or computer based/computer aided training. 
  • Provide technical assistance in the execution of joint and combined training and exercise events, interoperability workshops, table top exercises, and senior leader seminars. 
  • Develop recommendations for learning delivery options (e.g., academics, training events, etc.); and develop recommendations to leverage existing resources to gain efficiency and effectiveness in execution. 
  • Conduct scheduled in-progress reviews and confirmation briefs; prepare and deliver associated meeting minutes.  
  • ​Perform other related duties incidental to the work described. 
  • Mid-Level: Six (6) to twelve (12) years of experience and a BA/BS is required, MA/MS degree preferred.  
  • Attended Professional Military Education appropriate to rank at time of separation or retirement from the uniformed service.   
  • Experience on a 3 Star or 4 Star staff is desired. 
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 
  • Strong communications and presentation skills.  
  • Have a working knowledge of the Marine Corps and Joint Planning Process. 
  • Able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.  
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Excellent organizational, planning and prioritization skills. 
  • Proficient in computer applications such as Windows and MS Office. 
  • Expected to perform independently and exercise good judgment.  
  • Required to sit for extended periods of time and maintain focus. 
  • Qualification as an authorized company driver is required. 
  • All authorized company drivers must have a valid driver’s license, current automobile insurance, and a driving record that is acceptable to the company’s auto insurance provider. 
  • Ability to obtain or have a security clearance. 
  • 15-25% travel expected. 
  • Position expected to begin on or about 1 Dec 2020.
