The Academics Manager is responsible for managing a cadre of instructors ensuring that all instructor activities are in compliance with the Marine Corps Instructional System Design / Systems Approach to Training and Education (MCISD/SATE) Handbook, and the C2 TECOE Academics SOP. Additionally, the Academics Manager is responsible for making recommendations to the Site Director as it relates to resource management. The Academics Manager reports to the Project Manager and receives work direction derivatives from the MISTC Site Director.
  • Supervise the performance of the instructor cadre.
  • Lead peer-to-peer teach-backs ensuring performance is documented via the Instructor Evaluation Checklist.
  • Ensure instructor cadre collects during instruction data (Instructor Rating Forms, Evaluation Rating Forms).
  • Ensure instructor cadre completes post-instruction requirements (After Instruction Reports, After Evaluation Reports).
  • Ensure instructor cadre collects post-course data (End of Course Critiques).
  • Ensure instructor cadre consolidates End of Course Critiques into After Course Report.
  • Ensure all data gets appropriately archived and communicated to the appropriate stakeholders (applicable Course Chiefs, curriculum branch, etc.).
  • Supervise the validation of course graduates in MCTIMS NLT 7-days after graduation.
  • Maintain instructor training jackets.
  • Supervise the maintenance of Master Course Files.
  • Supervise the maintenance of training schedules.
  • Task organize the instructor cadre to support collective training events.
  • On at least a semi-annual basis, and utilizing the C2 TECOE Site Inspection Checklist, conduct curriculum inspections.
  • Create Individual Development Plans (in coordination with Course Chiefs, individual instructors, Project Manager, and the government).
  • Track and report Individual Development Plan progress.
  • Manage the TEEP, identify conflicts, and recommend resolution strategies to the MISTC Site Director and/or Project Manager.
  • Supervise curriculum events (CCRBs, learning analysis’, MLF reviews).
  • Supervise completion of tasks related to curriculum events.
  • Manage surge requests, identify conflicts, and recommend resolution strategies to the MISTC Site Director and/or Project Manager.
  • Assist the MISTC Site Director in Security related matters (JPAS, visit requests, security inspections, etc.).
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described.
  • Minimum of a High School Diploma (College Degree Preferred).
  • Graduate of the Formal School Instructor Course, or Basic Instructor Course.
  • Graduate of the Curriculum Developer Course.
  • Graduate of the Formal School Manager Course.
  • Previously served as an instructor at a Marine Corps Formal School (MOS producing school, or the SNCO Academy).
  • Former experience as a Chief Instructor/Course Manager, or SNCOIC.
  • Former experience as an operations chief a plus.

  • Expert-level knowledge in Instructor Management.
  • Expert-level knowledge of MCISD/SATE.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and prioritization skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Required to sit for extended periods of time and maintain focus.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
  • Must have a current Secret security clearance.
