The MCCMOS Instructor reports to the Project Manager and receives work direction from the Course Chief Instructor/s related to the following duties and responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Serve as a Primary Instructor or Assistant Instructor providing platform instruction
  • Contribute to CMO related doctrine review
  • Contribute Subject Matter Expert (SME) and curriculum development support during CCRBs
  • Work in cooperation with the MCCMOS Academic Officer and / or Staff; support regarding areas of expertise
  • Identify and submit external resource course support request to the Chief Instructor
  • Mentor / facilitate students through the course material and practical applications
  • Develop and maintain master lesson files
    • Create and maintain lesson plans and student handouts
    • Create and maintain course media and supporting instructional products
  • Provide appropriate and knowledgeable instruction in each class presented
  • Submit AIRs for each period of instruction
  • Conduct instructor evaluations
  • Provide AAR (After Action Review) comments for each course
  • Completes annual training and professional requirements (e.g. RSO/OIC, PME, etc.) established by the MCCMOS and / or program manager / site lead
  • Performs other tasks deemed necessary by the Project Manager and Chief Instructor
  • Thorough understanding and adherence to the Project Management Plan and the MCCMOS SOP 
EDUCATION
  • Awarded the Civil Affairs MOS though either the United States Army or the Marine Corps Civil-Military Operations School (MCCMOS)
  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Area of study compatible with CMO training, Political Science, International Affairs, etc.
  • Attended Professional Military Education appropriate to rank at time of separation or retirement from the uniformed service.
  • Basic Instructor Course, Senior Instructor Course, Curriculum Developer’s Course or other service equivalent.
EXPERIENCE
  • Candidates shall have at least three (3) years' experience as a military platform instructor.
  • The ideal candidate is a former Marine Civil Affairs Officer or CMO Planner, who has experience conducting/planning Civil-Military operations at the tactical and staff levels respectively.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills. Able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.  Able to design and write clear communications and present training programs.
  • Proficient in computer applications such as Windows and MS Office
  • Familiarity with current trends, doctrine, and systems in use by the Civil Affairs Community across the spectrum of operations
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational, planning and prioritization skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Required to sit for extended periods of time and maintain focus
  • Daily travel in local area during work day (including use of personal vehicle)
  • Required to occasionally work outdoors during all four seasons in order to evaluate students during field exercises.
SPECIAL POSITION NOTATIONS
  • Ability to obtain or have a security clearance
  • Requires 0% - 5% travel
